A lot of the changes needed to create a sustainable, ethical and responsible tourist industry will need to come from within the country, from the government and local people, but there are still things that tourists can do to ensure they are supporting this idea of tourism. I chatted with EXO Travel and these are some of the ideas we discussed about how we can all be good tourists!
I am a little late to the party with this, but I recently read John Krakaurer's Three Cups of Deceit which is a take down of the popular memoir Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson. Reposting this post because GBS is currently in the midst of fundraising drive in order to stay open! Please consider making a donation if you can! I have worked with the Green Bamboo Boys Shelter in Vietnam for four years and it is an amazing organization that does great work for disadvantaged boys in Saigon.
